I have been a bit of a sunglasses freak for as long as I can remember. I even believe that I should create my own brand - which I'm sure would be a massive hit. However if I did that I would at some point come face to face with a company that seems to have the whole industry in the palm of their rather large hands it would seem.
Having understood the real state of play in the eye-ware business, I doubt very much that I would have much say on the price of the glasses or where they could be sold.
Even if I had an internet based business I would be exposed to the fact that eye-ware is still one of the mainstays of the high-street shopping experiences simply because you can try on endless pairs of frames in one shop in a comparatively short space of time.

So clearly...having a high-street presence gives eye-ware professionals a big advantage, even when you consider the overheads involved in running and maintaining a shop. So if I had a shop, ran it for a while, and showcase my brand, I should turn a healthy profit right? I mean given a level playing field why not.
Well sadly this is where the dream stops... I can tell you that the reality is somewhat different in today's not so highly competitive eye-ware industry and all because of a little know company who are largely responsible for the relatively high cost of today's eye-ware.
